Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line 1 cookie sheet (with tall edges–not flat) with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. Arrange crackers salt side down in a single layer. Melt butter and sugar in a small pan on the stove stirring often, until it pulls together and turn a caramel color, boil gently for 2-3 minutes. Don’t burn! Remove from heat and pour over the crackers evenly.
Bake in the oven for 3-5 minutes, until bubbly, watching carefully so the sugar does not burn. Remove from the oven and evenly pour the chocolate chips on top. When they have begun to melt a bit spread them over the crackers gently with a knife.
Place the pan in the freezer for 15-20 minutes (or out in the snow) until completely cold. Break into pieces.
